FACE OF EVIL?

‘Killer’ dad Chris Watts ‘looked like he couldn’t care less’ when he was arrested for ‘murdering his pregnant wife and two kids’

Chris Watts, 33,  reportedly 'showed no emotion' as he was booked into jail on murder charges last week

A DAD "looked like he couldn't be bothered" when he was arrested for the murder of his pregnant wife and two kids, it's been claimed.

Chris Watts, 33, who is accused of slaying Shanann Watts, Celeste, three, and four-year-old Bella, reportedly "showed no emotion" as he was booked into jail.

An unnamed source, close to the investigation, told People magazine he appeared unfazed as he had his fingerprints taken, posed for a mugshot and thrown in a cell.

They said: “He looked like he couldn’t be bothered by the whole thing."

The source, who was present during the process of booking him after his arrest on August 15, said the oil worker "showed no emotion the entire time".

Neighbours also claimed Watts had acted in a strange manner as police launched a major hunt for the missing mum, 34, and her two daughters.

The Watts family murder - what is known so far:

  • The bodies of the mum and kids were dumped inside oil tanks at Watts' workplace
  • Investigators say they were killed at the family home before their bodies were moved
  • Shanann had just landed a glamorous new job which kept her away from home
  • Pals say the mum shared her fears Chris was cheating on her days before her death
  • The couple once filed for bankruptcy and were facing a hefty fine in court next week
  • Chris Watts made an emotional appeal for his missing wife and kids to come home
  • After the appeal, cops reportedly announced he had confessed to killing his family

Terry Witt, who lives close to their home in Frederick, Colorado, said: “He didn’t seem upset at all."

"It's not a personality characteristic that you can pick out of a lineup.

"It's not like someone wears a sign that says you can't trust. In fact, it's the opposite of that."

Police say Watts was having an affair with a co-worker and had informed his wife on August 13 - the night before her disappearance - that he wanted to separate.

According to court documents, an investigation determined that Watts, who was fired from his job at Anadarko Petroleum on the day of his arrest, "was actively involved in an affair with a co-worker".

Watts told investigators that he killed his wife after discovering that she had strangled their two daughters after he told her he wanted to separate.

Shanann's body was discovered in a shallow grave about 40 miles from the family's home and the girls' bodies were recovered from nearby oil tanks, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
