Sex clinics ‘at breaking point’ with MILLIONS of randy Brits visiting every year for STD treatment after one-night stands

Increasing use of online dating apps such as Tinder and Grindr have allegedly increased sexual activity among Brits

SEXUAL health clinics in England saw a record 3.3million visits last year, as local councils warn the services are 'stretched to the limit'.

The reason for the demand is due to public health service budgets being slashed by hundreds of millions of pounds, the Local Government Association (LGA) said.

The findings come amid fears that dating apps such as Tinder and Grindr are fuelling a rise in sexual activity.

In 2017, there were nearly 3.5million visits to sexual health clinics in England - up 13 per cent from 2013. This is equivalent to an extra 210 visits per day.

The number of screenings for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) including chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis and HIV, has rises by nearly a fifth during that time.

The Government is being urged by the LGA to U-turn on plans to cut £600million of health services.

Councillor Ian Hudspeth of the LGA said: "With capacity and resources stretched to the limit, clinics are reporting an increase in the number of lengthy delays and people turned away as appointments are fully booked."

The problem is worsened because many people do not stay in touch with their online dates, experts say.

Dr Olwen Williams of the British Association for Sexual Health and HIV said: "What we are finding is it's a little bit more difficult to get partners in because they can often be anonymous people who they met on Tinder and Grindr."
