A STRANGE 'sea serpent' has been spotted swimming in the River Tyne in the North East of England.
The mystery creature can be seen slowly wading through the water close to shore in the town of Tynemouth near Newcastle.
So far the video has been viewed fewer than 100 times, with none of the comments guessing what the moving mass might be.
Kevin Burton, who filmed the beast, says he was sitting on the pier enjoying his morning coffee when he saw the eel-like animal.
He said: "I think I witnessed the first sighting of the Loch Ness monster outside of Scotland!"
The Loch Ness monster has become a national legend, with dozens of claimed sightings including photographs and video footage.
The first on record is from 565AD when the Irish monk Saint Columba mentions a giant "water beast" dragging a man to his death in Scotland's River Ness.
There have been over 1,000 reported sightings, with 'Nessie' becoming the subject of documentaries and feature films.
