A £500,000 limit in payouts to terrorism victims could be lifted under new plans
MINISTERS have ordered a review on compensation to be paid to those suffering life-changing injuries in extremist attacks
A PAYOUT cap of £500,000 to victims of terror attacks could be lifted under new Government plans.
Ministers have ordered a review of a compensation scheme available to those who suffer life-changing injuries.
Survivors can receive sums between £1,000 up to a maximum of half a million pounds depending on their condition.
Families whose loved ones died in an attack can only receive a maximum of £11,000 under the current rules.
The probe will also look into the eligibility and entitlement of those entitled to a payout as a result of violent crime and child sexual abuse.
Officials will review whether the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme should be extended to include crimes such as grooming.
Justice Secretary David Gauke will tomorrow set out his plans in the first cross-government Victims Strategy.
