THERESA SCREWS BORIS

Theresa May set to cut Boris Johnson’s Uxbridge majority to just 500 by ‘backing independent plans to redraw constituency boundaries’ — as he comes under fire over saucy pics of blonde

Allies of the former Foreign Secretary are claiming he has been 'screwed' as a Commons shake-up threatens his parliamentary future

FURIOUS allies of Boris Johnson claimed he had been “screwed” as a Commons shake-up threatened his future as an MP.

Theresa May backed independent plans to redraw the boundaries of MPs’ seats in a move that will cut Boris’ Uxbridge majority from 5,034 to about 500.

It came as new snaps showed Carrie Symonds — at the centre of a storm over BoJo’s marriage break-upcavorting in school uniform. In other major developments yesterday:

Boris appeared to be in the same clothes he wore when seen staring glumly into his phone on Sunday.

The Sun yesterday revealed his long-suffering wife Marina Wheeler is poised to file divorce papers, citing his “adultery” as the reason for the split.

We revealed that Marina, 54, had booted him out after accusing him of cheating again.

The boundary shake-up of MPs’ seats was first commissioned in 2011.

Under the delayed proposals yesterday, the number of MPs will fall from 650 to 600 as huge numbers of constituencies are redrawn or totally ditched.

The report leaves Tory Boris facing a huge challenge at the next election.

Ex-Brexit Secretary David Davis could be left homeless as his Haltemprice and Howden seat is carved up. And Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn’s North London seat also disappears.

Downing Street backed the proposals and said they would be put to the vote in the Commons.

One ally of Mr Johnson said: “It all looks a bit convenient. Boris is screwed and the Brexiteers are targeted. I know they say it’s independent, but we all know what can happen with commissions.”

The Sun Says: Not for turning

PARLIAMENT’S seats must be reformed to make elections fairer.

The logic is unassailable. MPs must not reject it out of self-interest.

It’s not a plot by the independent Boundary Commission against Brexiters. Nor is it against Labour, who routinely end up with more MPs than they deserve because they need fewer votes to win safe seats than the Tories.

Each vote must carry the same weight.

So boundaries must change and constituencies must be evened up, regardless of the upheaval — or the senior politicians inconvenienced. It would have been done years ago had the Lib Dems not ratted on a deal in Coalition.

Reducing the number of MPs makes sense too, not least to save taxpayers money. Outside China, North Korea and Brussels, the Commons is the world’s second-biggest legislature.

The first? The absurdly bloated House of Lords. Take the scythe to that next.
