Top Tory urges the Government to ‘end austerity’ and find more cash for the police

THE highest profile Tory mayor in the country has urged the Government to “end austerity” and find cash for the police.

West Midlands Mayor Andy Street said “the cuts have gone far enough”.

And he said the Home Office ‘settlement’ for the Midlands had been “less favourable” than for other areas.

“It’s not reasonable to expect that this continues,” he told the Birmingham Mail.

The blast comes just days before Theresa May and her Cabinet descend on Birmingham for the annual Conservative Party Conference.
