THE body of a woman wearing a pink dog collar has been found dumped in a popular park by drag marks.

Police in Sydney have launched a homicide investigation after a council worker discovered the body under trees, near a children's playground.

Aside from the restraint around her neck, the woman was also wearing dark polka-dot clothing and her hands had been bound, according to reports in Australia.

The body was also reported to be lying near 30m-long drag marks, which had been etched into the ground at Buffalo Creek Reserve on Sydney’s lower north shore.

The NSW Homicide Squad are investigating her death, with police confirming she was most likely murdered.

Detective Superintendent David Waddell said police have not as yet identified the victim.

He told reporters in Sydney today: “The body [was] found in a park near a main road and we don’t have a cause of death so, at this stage, it’s definitely suspicious.”

A crime scene has been set up at the reserve, a popular children’s birthday spot in Hunters Hill.

In a statement, NSW Police said that “specialist police are forensically examining the scene.

“Investigators have confirmed that the body is a woman, who is yet to be formally identified.

“A post-mortem examination will be conducted in the coming days to determine how the woman died.

“Police are speaking with witnesses in the area to piece together the events leading up to the [death].”

Investigators are keen for “anyone travelling along Pittwater Road late yesterday through to this morning with dash-cam footage to come forward”.
