DUP boss Arlene Foster issues chilling warning to Theresa May as she insists her Brexit demands are written in blood
THERESA May’s rift with her Northern Irish allies deepened last night as DUP boss Arlene Foster insisted her Brexit asks are written in blood.
The chilling warning came as Cabinet Office boss David Lidington repeatedly refused to rule out offering different regulations for the province as a backstop insurance offer to try to break the Brussels deadlock.
But to do so would risk infuriating the Ulster hardliners.
Mr Lidington told the BBC “we obviously will be bringing forward more detailed proposals, alternative proposals to those of Michel Barnier on the so-called backstop very soon”.
But if they do contain differences, Ms Foster did not rule out marching through the voting lobbies with Jeremy Corbyn to destroy the PM’s wafer thin Commons majority.
Ms Foster has repeatedly warned the PM that additional regulations would be unacceptable to her party.
