Brit lad with diabetes dies on Benidorm holiday as devastated family and friends launch GoFundMe campaign to bring his body home
Billy Black suffered from type one diabetes and sadly passed during his holiday on Monday
TRIBUTES have been paid to a tragic Brit lad with diabetes who died in Benidorm on Monday.
Billy Black was enjoying a holiday in Spain where his family said he "didn't look after his body like he should have".
Devastated family and friends have expressed their grief at losing their loved one.
They launched a desperate bid to bring Billy's body back so they can give him a funeral - and they've smashed their £5,000 target in just 15 hours.
The GoFundMe page was set up by pal Dawid Lokietek on behalf of the Black family.
In a statement they said: "Sadly on the October 8 our beloved son, brother, uncle and nephew was taken from us while he was on holiday in Benidorm. Billy had diabetes type 1 and unfortunately didn’t look after his body like he should have.
"At such a sad and devastating time we are currently trying to raise funds to bring Billy home to where he belongs with his family in Edinburgh. We ask for any donations or spare change you have to help us bring him home to his family."
And as the donations flooded in, a raft of loving comments were also left.
Cameron Baker said: "Most genuine lad out there. True hero. Let's help get the lad back home where he belongs so he may rest heavenly in peace next to his loved ones. All the best soldier."
Georgi Downie said: "It’s difficult to believe you are gone Billy. You will always be in my heart. I will miss you. RIP."
Jamie Elvin said: "Billy was a true friend. Known him since we were young had the privilege to be his friend in primary and throughout high school. You’ll be missed Billy, love you lots."
Gaynor Richards said: "My wholehearted love goes out to you all. If you need ANYTHING please let me know. Life just doesn’t make sense but please believe me when I say Billy will ALWAYS be with you hope this will help towards bringing him back home to you. Love always."
Dawid said that he hopes they can continue to raise funds beyond the target to give Billy "the best send off."
