Kanye West heads to White House for lunch with Donald Trump ahead of music-streaming bill
The pair will chat about prison reform, jobs and reducing gang violence in Kanye's home city of Chicago
RAPPER Kanye West is set to have lunch with Donald Trump at the White House later today.
The controversial musician, 41, will watch the US president sign a major bill reforming music licensing and royalty payments.
He will also chat with the former reality TV star, 72, about prison reform, jobs and reducing gang violence in his hometown of Chicago.
West will also be present when Trump signs the Music Modernisation Act, a sweeping bill long called for by the industry.
The act includes guarantees artists will receive payments for pre-1972 recordings and improve payments for streamed songs.
West, who is also meeting Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner, has been criticised for supporting the president.
In April, he angered his fans and even wife Kim Kardashian when he expressed his "love"for the US president.
The outspoken rapper, who visited Trump Tower in 2016 following the billionaire’s sensational election victory, called the Republican ";my brother".
He claimed he and Trump had "dragon energy", tweeting: "You don’t have to agree with Trump but the mob can’t make me not love him."
Their unconventional bromance stretches back to September 2015 when Trump was already causing a stir in the Republican primaries.
Mr Trump recently tweeted praise for West, who closed a Saturday Night Live show wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat.
He also delivered an unscripted pro-Trump message after the cameras stopped rolling.
Kardashian has since revealed West plans to discuss "exciting things" with Donald Trump when they meet.

She insisted that she is "proud" of her husband, adding that Kanye has been planning the meeting for some time.
Speaking to Extra at the Tiffany & Co. launch of the 2018 Tiffany Blue Book collection in New York City yesterday, Kim said: "I try to [give Kanye advice].
"I will try to help him communicate. I always say he isn't the best communicator, but he has the best heart. I know what he wants to accomplish... and I can't wait to see that happen."
