Royal baby – Sarah Ferguson posts flurry of pointed tweets after Harry and Meghan ‘reveal pregnancy at Princess Eugenie’s wedding’

The mother of the bride this morning wrote she was 'so proud' of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank after their Windsor wedding on Friday

SARAH Ferguson today sent out a flurry of tweets praising her daughter Eugenie for the Royal Wedding - just minutes after Harry and Meghan revealed they are expecting their first child.

As royal fans all over the world posted supportive messages to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Fergie sent out five tweets in five hours, none of which mentioned the baby.

Kensington Palace confirmed the rumours the couple were expecting

Her first tweet, a picture of herself in a dress, was sent out just one minute after Kensington Palace revealed Harry and Meghan are expecting.

The Duchess of York then sent a further four tweets out over the course of the morning - three of which praised her daughter.

The expectant couple are said to have shared their baby news with the Royal Family on Friday as Princess Eugenie tied the knot with Jack Brooksbank at St George's chapel.

By choosing the wedding day to share the news with their family, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will have broken an unwritten rule of sharing big news at a wedding, and possibly taking attention away from the bride.

As the news of the new royal baby swept the world, Sarah Ferguson gushed that she was "so proud of Eugenie and Jack" after the lavish ceremony that saw 850 A-listers flock to Windsor.

The Duchess of York, nicknamed "Fergie", today made sure to keep her focus on Princess Eugenie - tweeting out the congratulatory message barely 40 minutes after Kensington Palace shared the baby news.

The 37-year-old's look for the big day was a far cry from the sleek dresses she has usually stunned in for royal events.

Prince Harry and Meghan's baby will be the seventh in line to the throne.

This means that Princess Eugenie will be tenth in line to the throne.

Eagle eyed fans had been quick to suggest Meghan was pregnant after her attire at the Royal wedding, as well as after she arrived in Sydney overnight.

The Duchess of Sussex was pictured clutching purple binders in front of her stomach as she and Prince Harry, 34, arrived for their first international tour as a married couple.

Meghan, who has never been to Australia before, beamed as she was ushered into a car with Prince Harry.

The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are said to be "delighted" for the couple.

Royal sources have suggested Meghan's mother Doria may move to London from the US to help the newlyweds with their new arrival.

It is understood Meghan does not want to hire staff or a nanny, and will instead depend on her mum.

However, Kensington Palace today refused to say whether Meghan's dad Thomas had been told about the baby news.

But when the Sun Online asked if Meghan's dad had been informed we were told they were making "no comment."

The new royal baby will likely take the surname Sussex - similar to how Prince William's children, George, Charlotte and Louis have all taken Cambridge as their last name.

Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice have also previously used York as their surname - in recognition to their dad Prince Andrew's title as the Duke of York.
