Pippa Middleton baby – Kate and William ‘thrilled’ as her sister gives birth to boy weighing 8lbs 9oz – and brother James is first to visit
PIPPA Middleton has become a mum – giving birth to a baby boy just three hours after arriving at hospital.
The 35-year-old socialite delivered the 8lb and 9oz baby on Monday and he will be cousin to Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge said they were “thrilled”.
Just days earlier, Pippa showed off her ample bump at Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s star-studded St George’s Chapel wedding.
A spokeswoman for Pippa and her husband said: “Everyone is delighted and mother and baby are doing well.”
James, 43, was spotted running into hospital yesterday morning apparently in the same clothes he arrived in the day before.
He was clutching a duffle bag likely containing much needed supplies to help the young family prepare for their second night as parents.
Pippa gave birth on the same private £7,500-a-night Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital where her sister had George, Charlotte and Louis.
Kensington Palace said in a short statement: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are thrilled for Pippa and James.”
Pippa and James arrived hours after the announcement that Meghan Markle is pregnant and expecting a baby with Prince Harry in the Spring.
The new parents joined the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Cambridge’s at Princess Eugenie’s Windsor Castle bash on Friday.
Pippa already visited the exclusive Lindo Wing, where sister Kate gave birth to all three of her children.
The Duchess of Cambridge posed on the steps of the ward with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, shortly after each of their births.
The pricey ward is popular with royals, with Princess Diana having both of her children there, and she also stood for photos on the steps with Princes William and Harry.
Pippa and James were spotted visiting the wing, in St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, which is a stone’s throw from their £17 million mansion in Chelsea earlier on in her pregnancy.
The exclusive wing provides a premium service for expectant and new mothers, with all patients given a private room with an en suite, which comes with phones and fridges.
Deluxe rooms or suites are also available for anyone willing to fork out – and it’s thought Kate gave birth in one of these.
There are in-room services for new mums including massages, and there’s also a supervised nursery so you drop off your new-born while you indulge.
The wing also offers satellite TV with major international channels as well as radio, WiFi and newspapers.
They have extensive menus and can cater for any dietary requirement, and there’s also a wine list – with champagne – to accompany it.
If you’re still hungry, there’s also an afternoon tea service.
Prices start at £5,900-per-night for a standard room, while a deluxe will set you back £6,275.
A suite, where Kate is thought to have stayed, costs £7,500-per-night, and it’s thought Pippa may also go for this option.
The wing is known for catering for a range of famous and wealthy women, and many high-profile parents are willing to pay for their discretion.
Pippa, who tied the knot last May, announced she was pregnant in June.
And Pippa Middleton will also be copying Kate when it comes to another royal baby tradition.
