Mystery donor gives £100,000 to boy, 4, battling cancer so he can have potentially life-saving treatment
The four-year-old, who has one of the world’s rarest cancers, needed £500,000 for pioneering treatment in Philadelphia
BRAVE Zac Oliver will have potentially life-saving treatment after a mystery donor pledged the final £100,000 to send him to the US.
The Sun revealed last week how the four-year-old, who has one of the world’s rarest cancers, needed £500,000 for pioneering treatment in Philadelphia.
And yesterday his delighted family thanked Sun readers for helping them reach their target.
Zac’s mum Hannah Oliver-Willets, 33, said: “We honestly can’t express just how happy and excited we are right now.”
After our coverage, donations to the family’s JustGiving page flooded in. Simon Cowell also paid £50,000 before the mystery donor rang Hannah on Monday.
Refusing to give their name, they told her: “It doesn’t matter who I am, start arranging flights because I’m going to make it up to £500k. This is not a prank.” The cash was deposited in hours.
Occupational therapist Hannah, of Broseley, Shrops, said: “They were just so, so kind.
“I hope one day they’ll tell us who they are. I think I recognised their voice.”
Hannah also thanked those who helped raise more than £400,000 in just over a month.
Zac’s uncle Wayne Bowen said: “Thanks to The Sun for the coverage and the readers who donated. It meant so much.”

The £500,000 will cover the first course of treatment for Zac, who has the near-haploid strain of acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
He will need help to fund a string of further US visits.
