THERESA May has been urged to drop plans to investigate Northern Ireland military veterans by more than a hundred Tory MPs and peers.

A letter calling for the PM to end the “legal persecution of veterans” was signed by 150 politicians.

Ex-soldier and Tory MP Mark Francois was among a group who delivered the message to 10 Downing Street yesterday.

It follows outrage over potential legal action against soldiers for events linked to the Troubles.

The letter asked the government to “put in place a lasting legal protection for our Armed Services and Security Personnel, wherever and whenever they serve”.
