Scottish Tory leader Ruth Davidson and partner Jen reveal birth of 10lb baby boy Finn with adorable dog joke
The Conservative leader welcomed the new arrival with fiance Jen at Edinburgh infirmary earlier today
SCOTS Tory boss Ruth Davidson today revealed she has given birth to a baby boy - with an adorable dog joke.
The Conservative leader, 39, welcomed her 10lb arrival with fiance Jen, 36, at Edinburgh infirmary earlier today.
She posted a snap on Twitter of the three of them today, revealing the boy's name as Finn Paul Davidson.
The pair said they were "delighted" to become parents for the first time - after their first round of IVF was successful in March.
"Welcome to the world, little one... Know you are loved," Ruth tweeted.
And she followed up with a witty joke and snap of her dog, wearing a scarf saying "big brother Wilson".
"Say what...?" she joked, zooming in on the dog's incredibly sad eyes after getting the news of the baby's arrival.
The Tory leader has long been known for her witty jokes online and down-to-earth attitude.
The couple will be known as "Mum and Mum", she revealed earlier this year.
She suffered with morning sickness and fatigue during the early stages of her pregnancy, but it was very much business as usual at last month's Tory party conference, where Ruth gave her keynote speech.
- she plans to take maternity leave and then return to the job.
The couple, who have been together since 2014, are currently engaged to be married.
If they have a second child, then MSP Jen will carry it, they said.
In a recent interview Ruth said she never wants to be Prime Minister because of the toll it would take on her mental health, putting to bed rumours she would run to be in No10.
She said she would snub the top job for the sake of her relationship, as she opened up about battling suicidal thoughts.
Congratulations message flowed in from across the political spectrum this afternoon.
Irish DUP boss Arlene Foster tweeted: "New life is wonderful. We can all remember our first cuddle. Many congratulations."
And ex-PM David Cameron added: "Lucky Finn to have such great parents!"
Brian Whittle MSP joked: "First Tory leader in Labour!"
