UK outlook for Wednesday 31 Oct 2018 to Friday 9 Nov 2018

PATCHY rain in the south should gradually clear on Wednesday 31 October, then most UK areas will stay dry with bright or sunny spells. The west will see scattered blustery showers.

Strong winds and local gales are likely in the north by Thursday, with some heavy rain at times, however further south the forecast looks more settled. Changeable weather is most likely to prevail from then on with further spells of rain likely in the north, with the possibility of spreading southeast at times. Some drier and brighter periods, initially in the south, will spread to the northwest, while the risk of strong winds to remain almost anywhere.

Temperatures will start cold or rather cold, but recover to normal and locally mild at times. Frost is possible in any clearer interludes.

Yellow weather warning: Snow and ice

There is a risk travel conditions will become difficult and hazardous, especially on untreated surfaces, or where showers wash away grit or salt.

What to expect

Ice is likely on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths, with the risk of accidents and injuries increasing.

Some roads and railways are likely to be hit with longer journey times.
