Second Brexit referendum plot to be launched by Remainer MPs after Theresa May gets a deal

REMAINER MPs are set to launch a new plot to kill Brexit as soon as Theresa May seals a deal with the EU.

If all goes well in Brussels for the PM, Tory, Labour and SNP members could put their "killer" tweak down within weeks, which would say that they will only accept it if the public vote for it.

Despite the 17 million Brexit voters in 2016, they want there to be the chance to vote for the Brexit deal secured, or to stay in the EU.

Remainers are using the 700,000 voters who marched in London last week to demand a People's Vote to argue there is support for yet another trip to the polls.

Tories include Sarah Wollaston and ex-minister Philip Lee, who are joining forces with Labour's Paul William's and the SNP's Philippa Whitford.

Dr Wollaston said at last week's march that just two years would be enough time for enough people to completely change their minds. She claimed: "People must have the right to look at the final plans, the evidence about consequences and have the opportunity to change their minds."

One senior Labour figure told : "There are some supporters of a second referendum who think the main push should come later, amid the chaos that would ensue from May’s deal failing to get through parliament or a No Deal.

"But we believe a killer amendment like this could be our only chance. We cannot afford to miss it."

But Jeremy Corbyn and the Labour frontbencher have said they would prefer another general election to seize power themselves - and only if that couldn't be achieved would they consider a fresh vote on Brexit.

Theresa May is still scrambling to get a deal with the bloc for after we leave - and has just a matter of weeks to do so before time runs out and she has to green-light No Deal planning in full.

She's already ruled out another vote - saying to hold one would betray the millions who opted to leave last time.

But last week Remainers from the SNP, Greens, Plaid and the Lib Dems met with Michel Barnier to persuade him to hold out for another vote.

Labour Mayor Sadiq Khan told him the EU should get read to delay article 50 and we could be set to stay IN the EU for even longer.

Talks are still in deadlock over the  ensure trade continues to flow after we leave.

Mrs May has been pushing a back up plan which would see the UK tied to the customs union if we don't get a free trade deal with the EU - but her own cabinet are insisting it has to come with a get out clause.

Brussels said that only Northern Ireland should be allowed to be tied to the bloc - but that would separate them from the rest of the UK.
