A LABOUR official whose mum is one of Jeremy Corbyn's top allies has been convicted of possessing a huge drugs haul at a festival.

Ishmael Osamor, the son of shadow minister Kate Osamor, was sentenced to community service for having £2,500 worth of deadly Class As at Bestival, where he intended to supply them to his friends.

But he has kept his job working for his mother in Parliament - and will continue to serve as a Labour councillor.

Osamor, 29, avoided jail last week after pleading guilty to four drug offences.

He insisted he wasn't planning to sell the haul of MDMA, cocaine, ketamine and cannabis - saying he and friends had agreed to share the drugs.

During the festival last year, a young woman died of a drug overdose in an unrelated tragedy.

Sentencing him to 200 hours of work at Bournemouth Crown Court, judge Stephen Climie said: "During unpaid work he will appreciate how privileged he is.

"He will end up rubbing shoulders with many who have serious addiction and drugs problems who will have had none of the opportunities he has had."

Osamor works in Parliament for his mother, the MP for Edmonton and Shadow International Development Secretary.

Kate Osamor, the daughter of a Labour peer, is a passionate supporter of Mr Corbyn.

Ishmael Osamor is also a councillor in Haringey, near to the area his mother represents.

A spokesman for Ms Osamor : "Ishmael has admitted what he did was wrong and apologised."
