A 15-YEAR-old boy has been knifed to death in Bellingham, south east London, police said.

Officers were called to Randlesdown Road at about 5.20pm on Thursday and found the teenager suffering with knife wounds.

The boy was taken to a south London hospital but he was sadly pronounced dead at 8.15pm.

Scotland Yard said his next of kin are aware and officers from the Homicide and Major Crime Command have been informed.

A Met Police spokesperson said: "At this early stage officers are working to establish the circumstances."

They added that no arrests have been made and a crime scene remains in place.

Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is asked to call police on 101 quoting CAD 5890/1 Nov.

It comes as knife crime in the capital continues to surge, with figures from the Met Police showing a 16 per cent increase in London.

Excluding those killed in terror attacks like London Bridge, Westminster and Manchester, there was still a 12 per cent rise in murders — the highest numbers in a decade.

The total number of offences involving a knife or bladed instrument that have been recorded by cops in the year to March 2018 rose to 40,147, a seven-year-high.

There were 1,299 stabbings in London up to the end of April, according to official statistics from the Met Police.

A glut of cocaine flooding the country has been partly blamed for the country's violent crime.
