TWENTY vehicles worth nearly £750,000 have been destroyed after being contaminated by deadly Novichok in the Salisbury spy poison plot.

In August, cops revealed they had been forced to bin official cars and vans costing £347,000 in the aftermath of the toxic attack.

But now we can reveal full details of the motors written off after coming into contact with the killer substance.

They include EIGHT Vauxhall Astra cars thought to belong to Wiltshire Police.

And ALL of the vehicles affected have since been dismantled and buried in a specialist toxic waste landfill site.

Among them was a BMW 1 Series, worth approximately £20,000, a Ford Ranger truck and a Ford Transit van.

A Honda CR-V - worth £25,000 - was also destroyed, as was a Renault truck and two Skoda Octavia cars.

Two Vauxhall Corsas were also written off and one Vauxhall Vivaro - a model often used by police forces across England and Wales.

It is not known if any private owners of the vehicles have been compensated by their insurance companies.

In August, a Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs spokeswoman said: “The cleanup work in south Wiltshire has been under way for some time and any potentially contaminated items continue to be removed and stored securely before being disposed of safely.

“As part of this work, following review by specialist teams, some of the vehicles involved in the response to the incident in March have been moved to a hazardous waste landfill site.

“There is absolutely no risk to the public of using hazardous waste landfill sites.

“These locations are fully sealed and highly regulated to ensure waste is disposed of safely.”

In March, Russian double agent Sergei Skripal, 67, and daughter Yulia survived after being targeted with novichok sprayed on the front door at their home in Salisbury.

In July, Dawn Sturgess, 44, died after handling a perfume bottle used in the first attack.
