British Airways plane declares mid-air ‘EMERGENCY’ above UK on flight to LA
Flight BA269 made a U-turn off the West coast of Scotland and descended more than a thousand feet after turning back
A BRITISH Airways flight from Heathrow to Los Angeles has declared a mid-air emergency and is returning to London.
Flight BA269 made a U-turn off the West coast of Scotland and descended more than a thousand feet after turning back.
The Airbus A380-841 departed from London at 4.07pm and was supposed to have arrived around ten hours later in LA.
But it declared an "emergency" and began circling back to Heathrow shortly after passing the Western Isles of Scotland.
A BA spokesman told The Sun Online: "We’re sorry for the delay to our customers’ travel plans.
"The flight is returning to Heathrow due to a minor technical issue.
"Safety is always our very highest priority and our highly trained flight crew will always err on the side of caution."
