CCTV reveals shocking moment maniac driver ‘reversed into young mum’ during road rage row

THIS is the terrifying moment a mum appears to be reversed into by a manic road rage driver.
Abbie Ashton feared she'd be "left for dead" after the car reversed into her - leaving her trapped between the car's boot and the bonnet of her mum's Vauxhall Astra while her two-year-old son was in the vehicle.

And now CCTV footage, captured by a nearby pub, shows the car drive across a roundabout in Halifax Road, Rochdale, Greater Manchester, as if to leave at the second junction.
But it then reverses back at speed, where Abbie, who is out of shot, claims it then hit her.
Abbie claims the dark Fiat Punto then moves forward and reverses again hitting her mum, Catherine Clarke’s, car and causing Abbie to jump out of the way.
The driver also spat in her face, Abbie claims, when she confronted him during the incident on Tuesday morning.
Abbie, from Rochdale, Greater Manchester, said: “It was awful. When you watch films and police documentaries – it was like something out of that.

“If he would have knocked me over I think he would have driven over me and left me for dead.
“We were travelling in the right hand lane because the left lane is for left turning only. He cut in front of us really close, so my mum beeped him.
“He was making gestures. He wound down the window and was swearing and sticking his head out of the window.
"He’d just stopped in the middle of the road so I got out and went to his window and asked him what was going on and why he was driving like that.

“He spat in my face. It was so shocking. I was absolutely fuming. Being spat at is the most disgusting thing ever.”
The mum-of-one claims the car with five men in, then drove off, slammed on the brakes and reversed into her.
Abbie said: “I thought I was going to die. I could just see him coming towards me. I was just thinking about my little boy. I didn’t know what to do. It was like I was frozen in time.
“My leg was trapped between his boot and the bonnet of my mum’s car.

“He drove off then reversed again hitting my mum’s car.
“I had to jump onto the island in the middle of the road to get away from him.
“Now I've been left in pain - he caused bruising to my leg and I had to be seen by paramedics who advised me to go to A&E.

"I didn’t go to hospital because I had my little boy with me so just wanted to get home.
“My mum was in shock and my boy was screaming. My mum said it was the worst case of road rage she’d ever seen.”
A Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman said: “We were called at 10.30am to reports of an assault and road traffic collision on Halifax Road in Rochdale.”
