ASHTON Kutcher has said he feels lucky to be alive after he celebrated his 40th birthday at the California bar where 12 people were shot.
The That ‘70s Show star revealed wife Mila Kunis had organised the party at the Borderline Bar & Grill where ex-Marine Ian Long went on a shooting spree on Wednesday.
Troubled ex-machine gunner Long, 28, stormed the bar to unleash a hail of bullets in a two-and-a-half minute killing spree before turning his high-powered gun on himself.
After the shooting Kutcher wrote on Twitter about the event in February saying among the guests at the bar in Thousand Oaks were Ivanka Trump's brother-in-law Joshua Kushner, who recently married supermodel Karlie Kloss.
"My wife threw me a birthday party this year at the Borderline. Only reason we are alive is the shooter chose a different night.
“My heart goes out to the victims. I’ll say it again... Gun Reform Now! Politicians need to stop standing behind the dollar & protect the people!"
The actor, who himself owns a gun, also urged the US government to reform the country’s gun laws.
He called for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to require background checks, particularly mental health records, before issuing firearms licenses.
“I grew up a hunter, I worked at a gun club pulling trap growing up,” he said.
“Nobody is taking your guns!!! Gun reform!!!!! Let it be a test. Your electorate doesn’t want to die when they go to church or a concert or a bar!
“The BS rhetoric around arming more people to protect others is just that, BS! Armed people got killed last night! Gun Reform now!!!”
He also urged Donald Trump, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, Nebraska senator Ben Sasse and New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, begging them to improve gun control and mental health treatment.
After the Las Vegas shooting, Kutcher made a passionate plea for gun control
