HANDS OFF MY BAPS!

Common sense victory for café called ‘Nice Baps’ that faced going bust over its ‘offensive’ name

Parish councillors said the venue — visited by David Cameron and the Poldark cast — had 'no place in society'

A CAFE named Nice Baps faced going bust after parish councillors objected to its saucy name.

They said the venue — visited by David Cameron and the cast of TV’s Poldark — had “no place in society”.

But they have climbed down after massive public backing for it.

Dad Kevin Baker, 54, who runs it with wife Laura, 34, said: “We had thousands and thousands of people offering support.

“Laura named it. We have nice 5in flour baps. They’re buns, not a degrading name for breasts. We’re delighted common sense prevailed.”

The diner, on a layby in Wadebridge, is ranked Cornwall’s No1 cafe on review site TripAdvisor.

But yesterday the county council said the gripes had been dropped and a December licensing hearing axed. It added: “This means the council will renew consent.”
