Millennials swapping traditional Christmas decorations for UNICORNS and flamingos

The younger generation appear to be forsaking tradition this Christmas in exchange for mythical creatures

MILLENNIALS have set their sights on Christmas, deciding it is in need of a makeover as Snowflakes opt for mythical creatures instead of traditional Christmas magic.

Rudolph, Santa and the Nutcracker are set to be swapped for unicorns, llamas and even flamingos.

Research undertaken by American Express Shop Small found nearly half of the UK's 27 million homes will ditch traditional ornaments in favour of bizarre alternatives.

Worryingly, it is also thought tinsel and baubles could be whisked away and replaced by rainbow cakes and rockets.

Topping the 'alternative Christmas decoration list' are woodland animals such as squirrels and badgers.

Other decorations include dogs, proescco bottles, flamingos and dinosaurs.

One small business enjoying the trend for more unusual and quirky Christmas decorations is home and giftware store Sass & Belle.
