Two hurt in Tesco ‘hit-and-run’ after Christmas shoppers smash ‘shoplifters’ car with trolleys and golf clubs in car park mayhem
Shoppers were seen blocking the blue Citreon C3 and smashing its windows after an alleged attempted theft of alcohol from a store in Rickmansworth, Herts
TWO Tesco Christmas shoppers were hurt in an alleged hit-and-run after customers rounded on the car of two suspected shoplifters with trolleys and golf clubs.
Chaos broke out in the car park of Tesco in Rickmansworth, Herts, at around 2pm on Sunday afternoon.
Police say they believe the driver and passenger were involved in an 'incident' inside the store where a person was challenged for allegedly trying to steal alcohol.
They confirmed the car was owned by a hire company and had been rented out.
Shocking footage shows staff appearing to challenge the pair before customers also step in to intervene.

Shoppers and other motorists can be seen blocking the blue Citreon C3 into the car park as it reverses and accelerates in a bid to escape.
The Citreon smashed into other vehicles a number of times and sustained damage to its passenger-side door and wing mirror in the mayhem.
The video shows shoppers striking the car with golf clubs and supermarket trolleys as they attempt to stop the driver from getting away.
The Citreon driver is then seen eventually forcing his way out of the car park and racing away.
Hertfordshire Police later said two people were hurt - with one woman taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The exact nature of the woman's injuries are not yet known while a man was treated at the scene for minor eye injuries.
The force is now searching for the vehicle and its occupants and urging any witnesses to come forward.
