BUCKLE UP

Onlookers shocked to see The Queen arrive at Sandringham without wearing seatbelt despite Philip’s horror crash on Thursday

THE Queen arrived at Sandringham church yesterday without a seat belt just a day after Prince Philip was spoken to by cops for the same offence.

No mention was made during the service of 97-year-old Philip’s smash on Thursday - and the Duke of Edinburgh did not attend St Peter’s church, at Wolferton, on the Royal estate.

Prince Andrew attended with his 92-year-old mother as Philip missed his sixth consecutive service.

But some wellwishers were surprised to see The Queen wasn’t buckled up, especially as cops on Saturday revealed they’d given Prince Philip “words of advice” after seeing a picture of him withoiut a seat belt.

Prayers were said for the Queen and other members of the Royal family, according to worshippers.

There were also prayers for sick people in the community although there was no specific mention of Philip or the two women injured in his car crash.

The Queen who was wrapped up warm in a camel coat and matching hat arrived at the church with Prince Andrew in her maroon coloured Bentley.

She was greeted by a crowd of around 100 people and walked unaided up the gravel path to the church.

Her two mile journey from Sandringham House involved crossing the busy A149 road where her husband was nearly killed last week.

But it is believed that her chauffeur avoided using the junction at Babingley where the accident happened.

Philip amazingly escaped serious injury when he pulled out of a side road while apparently being dazzled by the low lying sun and was hit by a Kia car travelling south on a stretch of the 60mph limit A149.

His car was sent careering across the road, landing upturned on its side after rolling over.

He was pulled out of the shattered windscreen by passing motorists who stopped to help.
