Mountaineer famous for hiking in bikinis freezes to death after 65ft ravine fall left her badly injured and unable to move

A MOUNTAINEER famous for hiking in bikinis has frozen to death after falling 65ft down a ravine.
Gigi Wu, 36, also known as Wu Chi-yun, was left unable to move after the plunge Central Taiwan's Yushan Mountain, also known as Mount Yu.
Wu was eight days into her solo hike when she made an emergency call to her friend after her fall.
The National Airborne Service Corps had tried to rescue her three times with Black Hawk rescue choppers, but poor weather conditions stopped them from getting close to her.
Rescuers airlifted her body out of the ravine 28 hours after she had called for help.
Commander Lin Cheng-I, who heads up the Nantou County Fire Department’s Third Squadron, revealed Wu’s distress beacon was activated at an altitude of 1,700 metres above sea level, where night-time temperatures reached just 2C.

Wu had a large following on social media where she often posted stunning photos of herself wearing bikinis atop many of Taiwan’s highest peaks.
In 2018, she revealed she spent 127 days - roughly a third of the year - hiking.
On Christmas Eve, she also shared an image showing her bruised legs following another fall, which she admitted she was lucky to survive.
Hundreds have taken to her social media account to pay tribute.
One of her friends wrote: "RIP beauty go all the way."
Another said: "I didn't expect the ending to be sad, may you look around the mountains and be a beautiful angel. RIP."
