CHILD killer Ian Huntley wrote a chilling prison letter to his daughter to try and explain the Soham murders - but told her it was the worst day of HIS life.
Samantha Bryan, 20, who described her father as an "evil monster", said he showed no remorse for killing Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman.
Samantha is the daughter of the Soham murderer's ex Katie Bryan, who was groomed and abused by the beast when she was just 15.
She told documentary "The Killer in My Family", which airs tonight, how she started writing to Huntley as she hoped it might give her an "insight" into the truth.
Huntley, who is serving a life sentence at HMP Frankland, replied to her in 2017, writing: "I have given an awful lot of thought...about how best to respond, and what, if anything.
"I should say I realise I can't just say no and expect you to accept that.
"Firstly I truly don't relish the idea of discussing or you listening to the details of what was unimaginably the most horrendous day of my life.
"Furthermore, I can promise that even if you did, you wouldn't feel any better for it. Nor would you feel any closer to understanding. Fifteen years on, I still don't understand what the hell went wrong that day."

Ian Huntley to his daughter
Samantha, who was subjected to abuse in the street when it emerged she was Huntley's daughter, said: "After reading that it just made me hate him even more.
"How he could say something like that after committing the crime that he did? I think that was the cut off point for me.
"At that point, I knew in myself, I am not going to get the answers that I am looking for.
"He's not showing remorse for anything that he's done. I didn't want to be in contact with him anymore after that."

In tonight's documentary Samantha also revealed the horrifying moment she realised Huntley was her biological dad, when she was 17 years old and at school.
She saw a picture of the child killer online and recognised her mum standing next to him.
Her mum then gave her a box of newspaper clippings about Huntley on her 18th birthday.
She recalled: "I thought I was ready. About ten mins later [my mum] came back in and asked me how I was feeling and if I was OK and I couldn't stop crying.
"The paper clippings told me what my mum had gone through, how she'd been abused and raped and things.
"They told me about what she went through when she fell pregnant with me, being pushed down the stairs.
"They told me about the two murders, it told me about what supposedly happened that night to Holly and Jessica.
"Thinking back to it, I can't really say there was anything more upsetting than the other, it was all very hard to read."
'I THINK ABOUT THEM EVERY DAY': What sick killer has said about his victims
Huntley has in the past begged for forgiveness saying: “I think about them every day.”
In a confession recorded behind bars and leaked to The Sun in February 2018, Huntley also apologised for the immense pain he caused through his crimes.
He said: “What I will say is that I am so terribly, terribly sorry for what I have done.
“I know the people of Soham took me into their community, they trusted me, gave me a job and a home, and I betrayed them in the worst possible way.
“And I am sorry for what I have done, sorry for the pain I have caused to the families and friends of Holly and Jessica, for the pain I have caused my family and friends, and for the pain I have caused the community of Soham.”
The killer confessed on the tape to deliberately killing Jessica to stop her from raising the alarm after Holly died in the bath in what he insists was an accident.
Holly and Jessica’s families were put through the ordeal of a full court hearing in 2003 because Huntley refused to plead guilty.
Huntley also claimed former girlfriend Maxine Carr told lies in court to “distance herself from me.”
He has previously claimed from prison that it was Carr who orchestrated the cover-up after the murders in Soham, Cambridgeshire.
She later wrote to the child killer in prison hoping for some closure - but when the "monster" showed no remorse in his reply, she decided to cut contact completely.
Huntley denied murdering Holly and Jessica during his trial, claiming both deaths were an accident.
Holly and Jessica had been at a family barbecue in August 2002, when they went to walk to a nearby shop for sweets.
