Boy, 8, suffers ‘life-changing injuries’ after being hit by ‘drink-driver’ in pub car park

A woman aged 32 was arrested after a breath test in Stafford, police said

AN eight-year-old boy was seriously hurt when he was knocked down by a suspected drink-driver in a pub car park.

He was taken to hospital with "potentially life-changing injures" after being hit outside the King's Horse in Stafford just before 6pm yesterday.

Bystanders rushed to the youngster's aid after the accident, .

A 32-year-old woman was arrested after a breath test, police said.

The driver, from Stafford, was being questioned today.

Staffordshire Police appealed for witnesses.

The force said: "Officers were called to a report of a young child being involved in a collision with a vehicle outside the Kings Horse pub on Kingsway in Stafford at around 5.50pm.

"An eight-year-old boy was taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital where he is currently in a stable condition.

"A 32-year-old woman from Stafford was arrested at the scene on suspicion of a positive breath test. She remains in custody for questioning."

The pub declined to comment today.
