A suspected illegal immigrant slipped into Britain unnoticed…and then wandered into a jail by mistake
The man came into Britain inside a HGV but got lost after jumping out at a lorry park
A MIGRANT lost just hours after sneaking into the UK was nicked after entering a prison by mistake.
He slipped in on a HGV, leapt out at a lorry park — then later wandered onto the open prison's field.
A source said last night: “Officers could not believe it when they saw him.
“He was strolling around the sports field and seemed to have no idea he was in a prison.
“The man said he had been hiding in the back of a lorry and got out when it parked.
“He looked shocked when told where he was. It may be an open prison, but you don’t get people just strolling through.”
Staff at Thorn Cross jail, Warrington, Cheshire, detained him shortly before 8am and called cops.
Police officers arrested him on suspicion of illegally coming into the country.

The lorry he sneaked onto came in via a ferry. It is not yet known which port he arrived at, although Warrington is just 20 miles from Liverpool.
Thorn Cross, a 381-capacity jail for men, does have fences and last year hungry inmates were reportedly getting friends to throw food over.
The Prison Service confirmed yesterday: “Police were called to HMP Thorn Cross after a man was discovered in the grounds of the open prison.”
