Primary school teacher given death penalty for raping girl, 4, so violently she had to have intestines realigned
Mahendra Singh Gond is due to be executed early next month after he savagely raped the little girl and dumped her body thinking she was dead
A PRIMARY school teacher has been sentenced to death after he raped a four-year-old girl so badly she needed an operation on her intestines.
Mahendra Singh Gond is due to be hanged next month after a savage attack on the child on June 30 last year in the Madhya Pradesh district in India.
After the attack Gond dumped the child’s body in a jungle area, assuming she was dead, but was arrested just hours later.
The girl’s family launched a desperate search for their daughter before she was found with severe injuries and taken to hospital.
She was airlifted to Delhi hospital where she underwent an operation to realign her intestines.
The girl was then able to make a statement to the police as she recovered which helped convict her depraved attacker.
The hanging though could still be overruled by the Supreme Court or the President.
In January a 16-year-old girl was found beheaded with her head doused in acid after claims she was raped in India.
The girl's family have claimed the girl was raped and have criticised cops over their perceived delay in acting.
But a senior police officer has suggested the girl was killed in an "honour killing".
Last month Canada extradited a mother and an uncle to India over their alleged roles in an “honour killing” that took place 19 years ago.
The body of Jaswinder Kaur Sidhu was found with her throat slit in June 2000 in Punjab state.
She was 25 years old at the time of her death.
