Pawel Relowicz's mum Marzena told The Sun she would 'give her life' for Libby to return home safely
THE devastated mother of a Polish butcher arrested over the disappearance of Libby Squire said she would “give her life” for the youngster to return home safely.
Meat factory worker Pawel Relowicz, 24, was arrested by cops on suspicion of abducting the Hull student more than a week ago.
His tearful mum Marzena, speaking from her home in Poland, told The Sun: “There is no way it could have been him.
“He bakes cakes, is a religious boy and is scared of blood and violence.
“I am 100% he will be released.”
Locals in Warszewice, northern Poland, where Pawel grew up before coming to the UK five years ago, said he did not have a criminal record in the country.
Friends said he last returned to Poland with his wife and two children around a year ago.
His snowy home village is around 200 miles north of Polish capital Warsaw.
Some 600 people live there and most work in a nearby sugar beet factory.
Pawel's mother Marzena, speaking to The Sun inside her detached home, said: “I have a feeling Libby is alive somewhere.
“I would give my life for her now to reappear safe and well and for this nightmare to come to an end.
“It just does not make sense because Pawel hates violence and blood - and would cry tears and tears whenever he cut himself growing up.
“I was surprised when he got the butcher job in England but he was reluctant to take it - he needed money to support his family.”

They also seized his car as part of the probe.
She has been getting updates from Pawel’s distraught wife Jagoda back in the UK.
Marzena, who lives at home with four younger sons aged from 11 to 18, sobbed: “Pawel has never hurt a woman.
“I have spoken to Jogoda nearly every day throughout their entire five year relationship and she always tells me they are great together.
“She never raised concerns with me about him.
“When I found out he was arrested, it was like somebody had hit me with a hammer.
“It tore my heart apart.
“I was driving my car at the time and had to pull over before I crashed.
“I have been pacing up and down non-stop since and have been shaking and crying, just praying to God that he is released soon.
“I am also praying for Libby’s safe return and for her parents. I think of them so much.”
Marzena said Pawel occasionally played football and went to the gym in his spare time - but denied he was involved in cage fighting or martial arts as previously suggested.
She said: “He didn’t need many friends or hobbies because he has seven brothers and sisters.
“He has never been in trouble with the police before and has never even got into a fight with anyone."
Yesterday it emerged the father-of-two offered Libby a lift in his car after spotting her distressed on the roadside after a boozy night out.
Pawel’s sister Paulina, 28, who lives in Norway, said he was “driving and noticed a girl crying” - and stopped to take her home.
She did not explain what happened after.
Family sources suggested he could have been running an unofficial taxi service when he picked her up.
They said: “It would not surprise me that he was doing everything he could to make extra cash.
“Maybe he did not tell police during their appeal because he was scared of getting in trouble about doing paid lifts for people when he shouldn’t.”
Pawel, who works in a Humberside bacon factory, remained in custody last night after cops were given a 36 hour extension to quiz him.
They have until just after 9pm tomorrow to charge or release him.
As part of the search for Libby, police divers have been called in to search nearby lakes while officers have scoured rubbish bins and parks.
It comes after the student's mum Lisa Squire last night shared an emotional post, saying: "One week without her", including two crying face emojis.
The 21-year-old philosophy student was reportedly "falling over drunk", two of the last people to see her say.
Libby was uneasy on her feet, "mumbling incomprehensibly" and fell over two or three times, the witnesses said.
And fears for Libby's safety escalated when a local reported hearing "blood-curdling screams" the night she disappeared.
Sources said police acted after receiving information that led them to believe Libby may have been abducted on a street near her home.
Officers insisted they were still treating her disappearance as a missing persons inquiry.
The last confirmed sighting of Libby was CCTV footage of her on a park bench at 11.45pm.
Libby's parents Lisa and Russell have previously released a heartrending appeal for information, begging anyone with information to come forward.
