Michael Jackson statue pulled down amid new paedo claims against superstar in Leaving Neverland documentary
FURIOUS families have demanded that a Michael Jackson statues be torn down amid new paedo claims against the superstar.
An effigy of the pop legend in a Danish mall was hurriedly taken down after shocking new claims of sex abuse against the star were made public in the Leaving Neverland documentary.
The four-hour film - which accuses the star of sickening child sex crimes - aired to stunned audiences at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah last week.
The documentary details claims from Wade Robson, a choreographer who says Jackson began abusing him when he was 7, and James Safechuck, a former child actor who says Jackson began molesting him when he was 10.
A wax statue of the pop legend was taken down from the Roedovre Centrum mall in Copenhagen after 15 families complained.
It was replaced last week with a statue of film star Brad Pitt.
STATUE PULLED DOWN
The mall's marketing manager Charlotte Andersen said: "Last week we were contacted by someone in the media who drew our attention to the fact that the figure could be controversial.
";Afterwards we received a number of calls from customers – some of them from families with children – who thought it was problematic.
"Because of this we were afraid it might offend some people and could be vandalised, so we removed it."
A statue of Jackson stood outside Fulham's Craven Cottage stadium after being commissioned by then-club chairman Mohammed Al-Fayed.
The statue shows the King of Pop in one of his famous poses and stands on the bank of the River Thames, adjacent to the Riverside and Hammersmith stands.
It was removed and donated to the National Football museum when Fulham were bought by American Shahid Khan in a £150million deal.
