Baby girl found dead in Wigan as cops arrest 32-year-old man for murder

The man remains in custody on suspicion of murder, and will continue to be questioned over the coming hours, police said

DETECTIVES have launched a murder investigation after a 12-month-old baby died in Wigan.

Manchester police have arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of murder.

The baby died after being taken to hospital from an address in Fleming Court, Shevington in Wigan (general view, above)

Cops were called by medical staff on Thursday, February 28, after the baby was taken to hospital with head injuries.

Despite the best efforts of hospital staff, the little girl sadly passed away yesterday, Friday March 1, police said.

Searches and forensic work are continuing at a property on Fleming Court in the Shevington area of Wigan as part of enquiries.
