DRESSING DOWN

Shoppers stunned as travellers in dressing gowns pitch caravans at Tesco car park near Wembley

Young women were seen smoking and pushing babies and youngsters around in buggies and shopping trolleys

SHOPPERS nipping into their local Tesco were left stunned as a group of travellers in dressing gowns walked their kids round the car park this morning.

The group pitched their caravans at the supermarket near Wembley, north London, and seemed unconcerned about mingling with customers while in their pyjamas.

REOCCURRING ISSUE

It comes days after another Tesco, in New Malden in south west London, was closed down after a number of travellers pitched up in the car park.

Cops were called over concerns damage might be caused.

Previously a group was moved on from a Sainsbury's car park, just a day after a Tesco store said it was desperately trying to evict another group.

Travellers who set up unauthorised camps could be jailed for the first time under radical plans unveiled by ministers last month.

Currently they can only be dealt with through trespassing laws, which are a civil matter.

But Home Secretary Sajid Javid has now launched a review that will consider making it a criminal offence to set up illegal camps.

Last year we reported how a pub manager refused to serve a builder a glass of Coke, because he was a traveller.

The dad, from Oxford, said his pals went to set up a game of pool while he walked to the bar to order three glasses of Coke.

But he says the barmaid refused him service and when she fetched the manager, he explained it was because they're travellers.
