‘I HAD TO MOVE ON’

ISIS bride Shamima Begum’s guard reveals she ‘didn’t shed a tear’ as she watched her baby being buried through refugee camp fence

ISIS bride Shamima Begum "never shed a tear" when her dead baby boy was buried without ceremony, it's claimed.

The 19-year-old lost baby Jerrah, who was her third child to die prematurely, in March after he developed breathing problems in a refugee camp.

The baby died soon after UK Home Secretary Sajid Javid refused to allow Begum into the country and revoked her citizenship because of her ISIS sympathies and potential risk to public safety.

She now lives in limbo in the refugee camp near the Iraqi border.

But despite the unbearable agony most would feel after losing a child, a camp guard told Begum showed little emotion at the funeral and "she never shed a tear".

'I HAVE TO MOVE ON'

Speaking for the first time since the death of newborn Jarrah, Begum said “It’s really hard, but I have to accept it and move on.

“I know it sounds like I don’t care, but I really do care.

"It’s just…they’re in a better place now I guess.”

The teen runaway also revealed at first she bizarrely believed the terror group would be a safe place to raise a family.

She said: "I do regret having children in the caliphate.

"I came thinking it would be a place of belonging where I could raise a family safely. But it was not a place to have children."

After fleeing battle-scarred Baghuz, Begum, was moved to the camp for her own safety a week before her baby son fell ill.

Begam had woken in her tent on March 7 to find Jarrah suffering with serious breathing problems and his skin turning blue.

The pair were both taken from the camp to a nearby hospital, where the tot was put on a drip and given oxygen.

He died hours later and his young mum reportedly stayed alone on a bed in a hospital room with her dead baby until dawn.

However, when she returned to the camp the baby was taken away and buried outside of the perimeter wires that surround the camp.

“There was not an imam there, but some people who work outside the gates they prayed over him,” she said.

It was the third child she had lost since her first son died in November aged eight months and her one-year-old daughter died in January.

Both died of malnutrition and disease.

'I WANT A SECOND CHANCE'

Despite her dark past, the Londoner says she now regrets everything she has done and has begged to be allowed back to the UK to start her life over.

"Since I left Baghuz I really regretted everything I did, and I feel like I want to go back to the UK for a second chance to start my life over again," she said.

"I was brainwashed. I came here believing everything that I had been told, while knowing little about the truths of my religion."

Begum's jihadi husband earlier told of their “nightmare” after their third baby died in a Syrian refugee camp.

ISIS fighter Yago Riedijk, 27, currently detained in a Kurdish-run camp in Syria, described Begum as "the perfect wife" and said they are heartbroken over the deaths.

He said: “Me and her, we loved them so much it’s a nightmare.

“It’s the worst thing that could ever happen. She’s just alone, heartbroken, having lost three children."

Her case is now the subject of two appeals challenging the home secretary’s revocation of her citizenship, and the legal fight over her status is expected to last months or years.

Meanwhile she said she was keeping up-to-date with events via a TV in the tent she shares with other ISIS brides of foreign fighters in the al-Roj refugee camp.

But she said she is sick of “boring” Brexit which dominates the TV in her Syrian refugee camp and would rather watch cartoons.

Along with a large group of Brits, Begum has said she is tired of the whole process that never seems to end.

Begum told : "Brexit: it goes on and on without end.

"It’s so boring now that I ask the sisters to flick on to the cartoon channel just to get away from it."

Last night the Commons yet again descended into chaos after MPs voted once again to reject all four options that were on the table which had been proposed as a way forward.
