Russian model, 27, fighting for her life with acute poisoning ‘after taking meth on a flight to combat her fear of flying’

A RUSSIAN model is fighting for her life suffering "acute poisoning" on a flight after taking drugs to counter her fear of flying.

Sofia Edigarova, 27, was rushed to hospital in St Petersburg after become severely ill on a domestic Russian flight.

Reports citing informed sources said she had taken methamphetamine to counter her flying phobia.

She was given first aid on the four hour flight from Omsk after she became ill.

But she failed to respond, say reports.

One stated: “The crew requested medical assistance and after landing she was taken to hospital with acute poisoning by a psychotropic substance.”

A pal said: “Sofia's mother reported that her daughter is in hospital, but we do not know any details so far.”

Pulkovo airport in St Petersburg declined to comment.

Police in the city said: “This woman was hospitalised.

“Now doctors are attending to her.”

Her condition was categorised as "severe".

The model was known to suffer from flight phobia.
