A GEEKY accountant who was bullied at work nicked £150,000 from his firm and splurged it all on one night with ten escorts, champagne and cocaine.

Darren Carvill, 38, who still lived with his parents, decided to “go out with a bang” when he realised he’d be caught.

His “madness” almost bankrupted employers Mr Clutch in Rochester, Kent.

The nerdy accountant who stole a fortune from his bosses spent all night snorting cocaine and romping with escorts — then caught a 9am train back to his parents’ suburban home.

Bullied loner Carvill nicked a total of £262,000 from car servicing firm Mr Clutch as he grew addicted to drugs, call girls and glamorous parties.

Fearing the net closing on his fraud he sought to “go out with a bang” — blowing £150,000 in one night on August 18 last year.

A source revealed: “He attended a club in London called Platinum Lace. He was offered to go to a private party.

“He went into a room with three escorts, they drank champagne and used cocaine.

“By the end of the night he had nine or ten escorts in with him.”

After blowing every penny he left the party alone, strolled 15 minutes to London Bridge station and took a train to Maidstone, Kent, where he still lived with his parents.

Carvill, who worked at Mr Clutch’s head office in Rochester, was jailed for two-and-a-half years last week after admitting 18 counts of fraud.

Maidstone crown court heard the bean counter was bullied at work, sending him into a spiral of misery and low self-esteem. He felt the only way to deal with it was binges on drugs and call girls.

To fund the sprees he filed bogus payments from multiple Mr Clutch franchises to himself, pretending they were for genuine suppliers.

Some of the cash was transferred directly to the accounts of escorts.

Carvill initially planned to repay the money but his fraud got out of control. The source added: “The only way he knows to get himself high is to go to private parties.

“He’d go to strip clubs in London. He was offered to go to private parties and would be driven by Uber to a location. He’d have an escort and use cocaine.”

Carvill admitted his “madness” almost bankrupted Mr Clutch. Barrister James Ross told the court: “He has had a very unhappy life.

“For most of it he has been bullied. He has suffered from very low self-esteem and social awkwardness.

“He says he was a good employee and worked long hours and did good work.

“He says his bosses had shown him nothing but kindness.

“But other than the owners, there was at least one person who subjected him to ridicule and caused a downward spiral.”

Some Mr Clutch employees were left without pay for five months.

Director Alfred Abdulla said the company faced “many years” repaying money borrowed to pay bills.

He added: “I could not pay two suppliers for two months. This caused a problem with HMRC and VAT returns were not paid on time.”

Carvill now faces an investigation under the Proceeds of Crime Act to try to recover the missing cash.

Frank Ferguson, Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS South East, said: “Darren Carvill claimed he needed drugs and escorts to make him happy.

“But servicing these needs came at a very high cost for his employers and the defendant himself, who will now pay the price with his liberty.”
