Dog drowns in sewage before beloved pet’s body is dumped in bin bag by leisure park bosses

Heartbroken Kerryann White told of her agony after pooch Tara escaped Viewfield Manor Holiday Park in Kilwinning, near Glasgow

A DEVASTATED dog owner has told of her heartbreak after her pet drowned in sewage near a caravan park - before bosses callously dumped the body in a black bin bag on the family balcony.

Kerryann White revealed the harrowing details on social media after pooch Tara escaped Viewfield Manor Holiday Park in Kilwinning at around 5pm on Sunday.

The family searched for their beloved dog to no avail until Tara was pulled from waste pools by staff.

And Kerryann told of her fury at the "insecure" holiday venue that provided no security or fencing around the area Tara went missing from.

She also blasted the manager of the park, claiming he "washed his hands" of the situation.

And she claimed he "laughed her out the park" before adding: "At least it was only a dog".

Posting on Facebook, Kerryann said: "I’m absolutely fuming, heartbroken & appalled.

DUMPED IN A BIN BAG

"This has possibly been one of the worst days of our lives.

"We spent the full evening and night looking for [Tara].

"We searched the full park, local farms, roads. Numerous times we went to the main office and asked staff for help.

"We were told repeatedly there was nothing they could do.

"Tara loved the water but wasn’t a strong swimmer and as far as we were told and aware there were no ponds or rivers or water in the park or surrounding that could be a risk to our children or pets.

"Our beautiful girl lost her life by drowning in the sewage waste pools of this holiday park that was un secure.

";An unlocked gate left unattended, no fencing or security around this part.

HEARTBROKEN

"This could have been one of my kids or someone else’s & it very much so feels like it was one of my children in fact it was."

She continued: "We are heartbroken.

"We went to speak to the general manager about this situation of how easily accessed this was, how we were lied to and how it could’ve easily been a child."

Kerryann went on to reveal the insensitive way Tara's body was handed back to the family in a bin bag.

But they made sure to give their six-year-old dog an emotional send-off by cremating her and keeping a certificate in her memory.

And Kerryann has demanded Viewfield Manor take some responsibility for her family's horrible experience.

She said: "We are missing a piece of our family and the managers of this site have totally washed their hands of it.

"They fished Tara out and put her on our balcony in black bin bags.

"Nothing can compare to the pain we feel right now. All we want is this park to accept some responsibility.

"Offer their condolences & some sort of support towards our girls cremation is the least they could’ve done!!"

A spokeswoman for Viewfield Manor refuted claims that their manager was "rude" and offered their condolences.

She said: “Our deepest condolences go out to the White family for the tragic loss of their beloved pet.

"When her disappearance was reported to us we quickly took details of her description and alerted all staff on the park.

"We do clearly state that all dogs must be on leads at all times when on our parks however, we do understand that accidents happen and we were very saddened to hear that this accident ended tragically.

"We offered our condolences to the family and made sure our maintenance staff located the dog and delivered her back to them, at their request, wrapped in a blanket.

"At no point were we rude or unsympathetic to what was a very distressing situation.”
