Bradley Welsh shooting: Trainspotting 2 star revealed ‘my gang past is always with me’ days before he was gunned down in brutal murder

TRAINSPOTTING star Bradley Welsh revealed how his gangland past was "always with him" in an interview just weeks before he was violently gunned down in Edinburgh.

Medics scrambled to save him but the former footie hooligan passed away.

An interview with Welsh on Edinburgh Evening News hauntingly told how the ex-casual accepted his crime-filled past would never leave him.

But he explained how he would never apologise for his past - even though he regretted his part in the underworld.

He told : "Everybody knows my back story; about going to prison and using boxing to transform my life, but when I was in prison it destroyed my mum and I made her a promise.

“You have to remember, at the time I was a young boy.

“From 15 to 19, I went through the stratosphere, got involved in protection rackets, the security industry, I was a nightclub promoter, the mistake I made was shutting everybody else down.

"[My past] is always with me but I don’t have to atone myself for anybody.

"The things I did, they were wrong, but I understand why I did them, because I had f*** all.

“Of course, I regret them. I have a daughter and a wee boy who is like a son to me, and I want a better society.

"That’s why I do what I do.”

Welsh was part of notorious Hibs casuals the Capital City Service in the 1980s and featured in Danny Dyer’s Deadliest Men telly series.

He was jailed for terrorising estate agents after moving into the security trade.
