Britain’s richest plumber annoys his posh neighbours by flooding multi-million pound estate with work vans

Charlie Mullins, who has been named as the UK’s most loaded plumber, has just bought a £3.5million house near Brentwood in Essex

BRITAIN’S richest plumber Charlie Mullins has landed himself in hot water with his posh neighbours on a leafy private estate – by parking his firm’s vans on the street.

Some residents of Hutton Mount near Brentwood in Essex claim by doing this he has “brought down the tone of the area”.

Neighbours claim he has been allowing Pimlico Plumbers vehicles to be parked on the street after he bought a house in the upscale area for £3.5million.

Locals told the Mail on Sunday say they first noticed the vans parked up daily on quiet cul de sacs after Mullins bought his new pad in January.

It is reported that the workmen are there to lavishly revamp Charlie Mullins' property’s dated interior a part of a £1m-plus upgrade.

But in response, the outspoken Mullins, 66, has dubbed the area “Hutton Moan” and claimed his old neighbours in a tough Elephant and Castle estate, where he grew up, behaved better.

The businessman went from rags to riches after leaving school — aged 15 and without any qualifications.

He trained as a plumber and in 1979 created the business that has netted him a £70m fortune.

It now employs 300 people and has celebrity clients including Richard Branson and Simon Cowell as well as ex Prime Minister David Cameron.

'USING BULLYING TACTICS'

Last night he struck back at his complaining neighbours, claiming: “They have been using bullying tactics, trying to tell people what they can do and what they can’t do.”

One neighbour alleged five or six of the vans were parked opposite her home each day.

She said: “They upset people, and there has been some inconvenience.

"I had some deliveries where the driver did not have room to reverse on to my driveway so had to unload outside and leave everything for us to bring in.’

Another resident said the vans “brought down the tone” of the area, adding: “Houses are expensive here and no one wants to see a load of Transits parked up day after day.”

But other locals defended Mullins.

One posted: “Stop the witch-hunt. You guys are insane GET A LIFE.”
