One of his colleagues laughed as he took off his kit belt to perform backflips in the garden of a house they were checking.
A neighbour who filmed the officer’s antics is heard saying: “This is what you pay your taxes for. I can’t f***ing believe it.”
West Midlands Police are investigating in Coventry. The force said: “This appears to fall short of our high standards.”
Ex-Det Chief Insp Mike Neville said: “It is essential officers have light-hearted moments, but these days they are often seen focusing on the wrong things.
“The war on drugs seems to have been taken over by a circus with an acrobatic officer as star act.
“The British bobby used to be respected throughout the world. A professional, authority figure with a friendly smile and ability to catch crooks.

“Officers now seem to model themselves on Kindergarten Cop rather than Dixon of Dock Green. Too often they are seen fooling around and bringing policing into disrepute.”
The officer was one of four investigating a terraced house in Coventry on Friday. He removed his kit belt to perform somersaults as a colleague laughed.
Earlier this month Met cops were videoed dancing and skateboarding at a climate protest in London.
Total crimes rose 11 per cent to 253,000 in the West Midlands last year.
Knife crime and other violent offences hit record levels.
Supt Jenny Skyrme confirmed the force would review the incident for any breach of standards.
