Countdown star Rachel Riley calls out Labour ally who shared petition to silence her for speaking out over anti-Semitism
Laura Eadie posted the link to the petition but later deleted her tweets and made her account private
RACHEL Riley has called out a Labour council candidate who shared a petition aiming to silence the Countdown star for speaking out over anti-Semitism.
Laura Eadie posted the link under a tweet by the presenter in which she criticised Jeremy Corbyn and his handling of the scandal.
The teaching assistant — standing in Dartford, Kent — told another poster that she had been looking for the petition.
Rachel then posted screenshots of the exchange and accused Ms Eadie of “sharing a petition set up by an obsessive anti-Semitic racist known for harassing those who speak out, aiming to have me silenced for standing up to it”.
But the candidate has since deleted her tweets and made her account private.
She said: “It was a silly mistake from me and it wasn’t my intention to hurt anyone.”
Ms Eadie later tweeted to say she is focusing on Thursday’s local elections.
