Ex-black cab driver John Worboys charged with drugging four victims in London

He is due to appear in custody at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 23 May

FORMER black cab driver John Worboys has today been charged with drugging four victims.

The 62-year-old, now known as John Radford, was charged with administering substance with intent to four people between 2000-2008 in London.

Radford, of HMP Wakefield, is due to appear in custody at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, May 23.

The offences were committed between 2000 and 2008, in London.

The charges relate to allegations made in early 2018.

A Crown Prosecution Service spokesman said: “In September 2018, the Crown Prosecution Service received a file of evidence from the Metropolitan Police relating to allegations of non-recent sexual assault and of administering drugs to cause unconsciousness.

“Following a review of the evidence, the CPS has today charged John Radford, formerly known as John Worboys, with four offences.

“The charges are two offences of administering a stupefying or overpowering drug with intent to commit rape or indecent assault contrary to section 22 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861 and a further two offences of administering a substance with intent to commit a sexual offence contrary to section 61 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003.”
