Rock band Queen are now roughly £75million richer than the actual Queen
Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon are believed to have a combined £445million fortune
THE three surviving members of rock band Queen are now richer than the actual Queen.
Brian May, 71, Roger Taylor, 69, and John Deacon, 67, are believed to have a combined £445million fortune.
Her Majesty has £370million, according to The Sunday Times Rich List.
The band’s wealth has rocketed thanks to the box office success of the film Bohemian Rhapsody.
Centred around lead singer Freddie Mercury, who died aged 45 in 1991 from Aids-related pneumonia, it has brought in more than £686million.
The trio have each added an estimated £25million to their pile this year.
The Queen used to top the list but rules now exclude the Crown Estate and royal art collection from her assets as she does not have control over them.
The band’s hits still earn royalties, with the single Bohemian Rhapsody the most streamed 20th century song.
