Cabinet minister mocked for having FOUR ovens – latest in a string of home gaffes by out-of-touch politicians
James Brokenshire revealed he has two double ovens in his kitchen at home
A CABINET minister has been brutally mocked after it emerged he has four ovens in his kitchen - but it's not the first at-home gaffe by a politician.
Housing Secretary James Brokenshire did a photoshoot which showed he and his wife own two double ovens.
He was accused of being out of touch and living a lavish lifestyle.
Labour MP Stephen Pound joked: "Unless he’s running a pizza business on the side, he must have some very hungry friends."
But Mr Brokenshire later made light of the row, posting a picture online of a cake he made in the kitchen.
He quipped: "Amazing what you can rustle up! Maybe some more hot potatoes next! #twoovens"
The minister follows a string of other politicians who've been publicly ridiculed over their domestic arrangements.
Ed's two kitchens
When he was Labour leader, Ed Miliband filmed a video in the kitchen of his North London home.
Viewers pointed out the room was tiny and sparse - at which point friends revealed it was actually his second, smaller kitchen.
Mr Miliband was left humiliated as he was accused of trying to appear less wealthy than he really is.
Cam makeover
David and Samantha Cameron spent £25,000 overhauling the Prime Minister's private flat in Downing Street.
When they let the cameras inside it shed light on their lavish lifestyle.
It emerged they'd spent £1,600 on an enormous lamp and also bought a dining table made of marble.
Book club with Raab
Earlier this year Dominic Raab carried out a BBC video interview from his home.
He posed in front of a window which had stacks of books strategically positioned so they could be seen by the cameras.
The volumes, including Ronald Reagan's diaries and an economics textbook, appeared to have been chosen to boost Mr Raab's leadership credentials.
May's leather lather
A few months after becoming PM, Theresa May invited the cameras in for an at-home interview in No10.
She donned a £1,000 pair of leather trousers - drawing criticism from Tory colleague Nicky Morgan.
The Prime Minister told allies she should never have accepting the clothing, which was lent to her by a pricey fashion brand.

Art lessons for David
Ed Miliband is not the only member of his family to have been caught up in a domestic controversy.
During the 2010 Labour leadership election, David also conducted an interview at home.
He was mocked for having a bizarre painting of naked women dancing in a ring - which it turned out was a 40th birthday present from his wife.
