SHOCKING images show dead bodies piled up on the floor of a Mexican morgue in a city dubbed the most violent in the world.
Cartel drug violence has left the Forensic Medical Centre in Tijuana overflowing with corpses as the city suffers six murders every day.
In disturbing images, dozens of bodies and severed limbs can been seen strewn across the floor of the morgue, with blood splattered on the walls.
Relatives taken to the centre to identify their loved ones said their butchered remains were unrecognisable and compared the scenes to a war zone.
Tijuana, which has a population of just over two million, is in the state of Baja California in Mexico close to the border with the United States.
State coordinator of the institution Cesar Raul Gonzalez Vaca initially refused to confirm if the photos had been taken in Tijuana.
But he has now admitted that the facilities in Tijuana were overcrowded with corpses and assured reporters the bodies were no longer on the floor.

The president of the Superior Court of State Justice, Salvador Juan Ortiz Morales, claimed that the refrigerators had needed cleaning and someone took those photos when they were emptied.
Morales also said that the centre is undergoing an expansion project.
