NEW dad Prince Harry today gushed son Archie was "doing great" as he left his baby and wife Meghan Markle at home to play a charity polo match in Italy.
The Duke of Sussex jetted into Rome for the posh polo bash that will raise funds for vulnerable children in southern Africa.
The match saw the new dad play on the Sentebale St. Regis team captained by Sentebale Ambassador Nacho Figueras, against a US Polo Assn team that will be captained by Malcolm Borwick.
Mr Figueras, who was a guest at Harry's wedding, was asked how the duke was coping with a new baby, and replied: "He's doing great. Sleeping, you should ask him, but I think he's doing great.
"I just saw him, he's ready for the game and had a good night's sleep, so we're excited about being able to do a great job today for Sentebale, which is why we're here.
"Being a father always changes you, he seems to be very, very happy, I think this is a very exciting part of his life. He was ready for it and I think he's loving it.
"I always thought that he would be an amazing father because he has a great affinity for children - two weeks is very very soon but I'm sure he's changed."

The 34-year-old hasn't slowed down since becoming a dad, with today the second overseas trip he has taken since the arrival of little Archie.
Earlier this month, Harry headed to Holland to launch the countdown to the Invictus Games - impressed as he was handed a sweet babygro for his son.
The proud dad is sure to feel the pangs of missing his wife, 37-year-old Meghan, and baby Archie, who was born on May 6.
He had protectively clutched his swaddled son in his arms as he introduced the baby to the world, saying: "We're just so thrilled to have our own little bundle of joy."
Meghan herself had gushed over life as a new mum, saying: "It's magic.
"It's pretty amazing. I have the best two guys in the world, so I'm really happy."
It had previously been reported Prince Harry would take two weeks paternity leave on the birth of his baby to show he was a "modern dad".
Last time Prince Harry played polo, it was just a few months after he and Meghan tied the knot at St George's Chapel in Windsor in May last year.
And the newlyweds even puckered up to celebrate the match - smooching as one of Harry's teammates stood awkwardly trying to give them the trophy.
