Mum wakes to find one of her ‘miracle’ IVF triplets DEAD in his cot
A HEARTBROKEN mum woke up to find her “miracle IVF” triplets died suddenly in the night.
Bethanie Bullas, 26, found her 19-month-old son Rogan had passed away in his sleep from Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood.
Speaking for the first time after the ordeal, Bethanie recalls the morning she lost her little boy to and is hoping to raise awareness.
The first-time parents noticed that 19-month-old Rogan had some “cold-like symptoms” and put the triplets down for the night in their home in Hucknall, Nottingham — but he seemed fine the next day.
The following morning, the mum-of-three went into their room to find Rogan lying face down but initially she wasn't concerned because he normally slept like that.
But Bethanie grew concerned when Rogan didn't stir and his twin brother Rico began screaming, alerting her to check the tot.
The devastated mum claims her baby was “cold and hard”.
She said: "As I turned him over my heart sank - he was stiff, both arms up by his face, blue lips and not breathing.
"I screamed to my partner who luckily hadn't left for work yet. I cried 'Rogan's dead' hysterically and he ran upstairs screaming, after that, it's a bit of a blur.”
SUDC: What is it and what causes it?
Similar to cot death, Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC) is the sudden and unexplained death of a child.
But affects older children — from the age of twelve months.
SUDC is the conclusion after a thorough case investigation, including a post-mortem examination and reviewing the infants medical history.
These deaths elude present scientific understanding.
More research into SUDC is crucial to determine whether there is anything that can be done to protect children from dying without reason.
It is hoped scientists can discover the risk factors and underlying causes that will lead to its prevention.
In a year there are more than 400 one-four year old deaths in England and Wales and at least 5.6 per cent of these were sudden unexplained deaths.
Rogan was rushed to Kings Mill Hospital, Nottingham, but there was nothing the doctors could do, and he passed away.
The doctors performed a post-mortem examination and couldn't find a cause of death so it was ruled as Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC).
The first-time mum had been overjoyed to discover that she had fallen pregnant with Rogan and his siblings after undergoing a second round of IVF treatment, following an unsuccessful first round.
She gave birth to the “miracle” tots — a little girl Amiya, and twin boys Rico and Rogan - in June 2017 after a textbook pregnancy.

Speaking about the the condition that killed Rogan, Bethanie said: "I'd never heard of it before, but sadly it happens more than you think.
"It's one of the most common causes of death in children but no one talks about it.
"I am now worrying about my other two - I want to make people aware that it can happen to anyone.
"There's no prevention for it so I'd like to see funding and research into SUDC, I want it to become more of a priority, and I've started fundraising.
Bethanie has set-up a GoFundMe and a group called ReachforRogan where she is raising money for SUDC charity.
